Sound Baths for Yoga

As research has already shown that sound can affect a person's mood and brainwave state, so it is a natural step to incorporate sound baths with yoga practice.  It is no coincidence that many of the benefits of acoustic induced meditation overlap with the benefits of yoga practice, including the promotion of energy balance within the body, the reduction of stress and tension and helping to harmonize the mind, body and spirit.

The vibrations of crystal singing bowls stimulate the body to help produce the alpha waves that are present in the brain in deep relaxation. Scientists have also found that breathing, meditation, and asana-based yoga practices increase the alpha wave activity which is associated with better perception and calmness.

There is also a direct relationship between the frequencies of tuned crystal singing bowls used in sound baths, the chakras and specific yoga poses:

Root Chakra - Security & Grounding

Red/C Bowl;  Garland Pose, Chair Pose, Staff Pose and Warrior II Pose

Sacral Chakra - Creativity & Sexuality

Orange/D Bowl;  Crescent Pose, Bound Angle Pose, Goddess Pose and Wide Angle Forward Bend Pose

Solar Plexus Chakra - Will Power & Self Esteem

Yellow/E Bowl; Camel Pose, Revolved Triangle Pose, Plank Pose, Bow Pose

Heart Chakra - Love & Relationships

Green/F Bowl; Lord of the Dance Pose, Cobra Pose, Wheel Pose, Half Lord of the Fishes Pose

Throat Chakra - Communications & Truth
